Historical Events :

A group of Rakhains escaped the atrocities of the Burmese king to the Rangabali Island of Galachipa upazila and settled there in 1784. These Rakhains are reported to have been first settlers in the island. During the war of liberation in 1971 three members of the Pak army were killed on a skirmish between the Pak army and the freedom fighters at village Panpatti. The Pak army raided the villages Chikani Kandi and Dakua on 8 May, killed 29 villagers and sacked some houses.
